Student Applicants for UC San Diego Discipline-Based Education Research Summer Program

10 May 2023

Seeking student applicants for new DBER REU for this summer, at UC San Diego.

The University of California, San Diego is proud to announce their new, NSF-funded REU focused on DBER (discipline-based education research), called VERSA (Virtual Education Research in STEM Academy). They are looking for undergraduate students who would like to conduct research on STEM education at the college level in any of a variety of STEM disciplines, including biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, and psychology. The program is also novel in that it is intentionally mostly- virtual. The first and last weeks will be on-site in San Diego, but the bulk of the program will be virtual.

They are interested in having a cohort of students with diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences. That includes community college students and students with no experience in research. They are particularly hoping to reach students who would benefit from the virtual aspect of this research experience.

The program is 9 weeks, from June 20 – August 19. Each VERSA student will receive a $5,400 stipend and an additional $1,255 allowance for housing and food. All travel is fully-funded.
