Studying for the GRE

There are a number of different methods to study for the GRE, and no single method works for everyone. Most recommend studying for between 1-2 months, but many students opt to study for shorter or longer periods of time. A popular practice for students and people with busy schedules is devoting an hour everyday to some form of study, whether it’s vocabulary review, sample math exercises, or writing practice.

GRE Psychology Subject Test

The GRE subject tests are offered only on paper on specific dates — this academic year on September 17th, October 29th, and April 8th. For the past few years the closest location to take the tests has been Mankato, Minnesota, and the Career Center organized transportation to get Carleton students there on test dates.

ETS, the company that runs the GRE, will let students who are more than 125 miles from a test center create a “supplementary test center” by providing the name and contact info of a staff member of a staff member at their home institution who is willing to administer the test. The deadlines for submitting these requests is already passed for September 17th test date. View GRE’s online registration system for relevant deadlines.
