Professor of Mathematics
Associate Provost Egge oversees the offices of the Center for Community and Civic Engagement, the Science Education Resource Center, and the Arboretum. His responsibilities include oversight of academic budgets and academic facilities, including renovation projects such as Hasenstab Hall. He is a standing member of the Budget Committee, the Campus Facility and Planning Committee, and the New Technology Request Committee. He is the Institutional Representative for the college’s Institutional Review Board, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and the Institutional Biosafety Committee. Associate Provost Egge also convenes the Classroom Committee and is co-chair of the Science Board.
Professor of Computer Science
Associate Provost Liben-Nowell oversees the offices of Off-Campus Studies, the Language Center, and the Registrar. His responsibilities include academic integrity cases, language exemptions, and student academic concerns. As a standing member of the College’s Education and Curriculum Committee (ECC) and Academic Standing Committee (ASC), he is deeply involved in academic policy and in students’ academic progress. In addition, Associate Provost Liben-Nowell is responsible for the College’s non-tenure-track faculty hiring.
Professor of Spanish
Associate Provost Pérez works alongside the Provost on all tenure-track hiring, including faculty diversity recruitment. As Director of Advising, she oversees the assignment of all advisers for first- and second-year students and directs numerous workshops and events that support academic advising. Associate Provost Pérez also handles student complaints and junior faculty mentoring and oversees the Pre-Health, Pathways, Student Departmental Advisers, and Student Fellowships programs. She is the office’s liaison to the Accessibility Awareness Committee, Posse, the LTC Advisory Committee, Information Security, the Voice, serves as the coordinator for the Academic Standing Committee, and works closely with the Career Center and the Dean of Students Office more broadly.
Lecturer in History
Director of Student Fellowships Marynel Ryan Van Zee advises Carleton students and recent alumni applying for most highly competitive external fellowships and manages all on-campus elements of the evaluation and endorsement processes for such fellowships. She is also responsible for Carleton-funded opportunities managed through the Office of Student Fellowships.
