Dear colleagues,

As you know, we are planning to participate in the COACHE* Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey that will launch in February of this year. Since I am still relatively new to Carleton, I am eager to learn from your responses to the survey what areas of your work at the college are largely satisfying from your perspective and where we can continue to strive for improvement. I am specifically interested in giving you the opportunity to share your perspectives anonymously. The data will be disaggregated, but no data will be shared with us in units small enough to reveal any individual’s responses. Disaggregation will allow us to see disciplinary areas in which there are specific challenges and/or demographic groups that have identified concerns that differ from other groups among our faculty. This process will provide us a holistic assessment of job satisfaction among Carleton faculty as well as within specific groups who call our attention to issues we need to address.

My goal is to use the survey results in conversation with you and in collaboration with your faculty representatives to help us construct our agenda for the next few years. In other words, we are not asking you to give thirty minutes of your time to complete the survey once it opens in early February just to collect data, but rather to use that data to inform what goals we pursue and how we prioritize among those goals.

We are hoping to use this site to provide updates, answer questions, and post the report once we have received it. You will find here both an FAQ as well as links to the pertinent sections of the COACHE website. There is also a section where you can submit questions or share concerns with us that we can address individually or collectively (with your permission, of course).

Thank you for visiting this website and for participating in the survey! I am eager to see where the survey results take us together.

Gratefully,
Michelle
