When liberal arts advisees declare their major, their liberal arts advisers lose access to their files. Before this point, it is useful to have adviser prepare “advising notes” in the OnBase system. This function allows the liberal arts adviser (or any previous adviser) to leave confidential information for the next adviser. All advisers of sophomores should take some time before the end of the final exam period in the winter term to identify sophomore advisees who would benefit from such reports if their major advisers received them. Notes left by liberal arts advisers are not read by students and are only visible to active advisers.

A video primer on how to create advising notes is provided (recorded at the Annual Advising Workshop in September 2017). Fast forward to minute 38.15 to see the full demo of the notes function with OnBase. Otherwise, just go to the Hub.
