Dear Members of the Carleton Community,
On behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, we are pleased to update you on the search process that began in October. As we shared with you in our last update, the leadership profile has been posted to the presidential search website and the recruiting phase of the process is well underway.
We have great confidence in Storbeck Search as a search firm. While there are several other presidential searches in process, Carleton is in a strong position and considered a plum opening in the higher education marketplace.
The search is going very well. We are developing a strong and diverse pool of candidates, applications are coming in, and the committee has begun to review them. We will continue to review candidates over the next few weeks.
The search process is designed to yield a final candidate who can be brought to the Board of Trustees such that we can welcome a new president at a time that aligns with President Poskanzer’s announced time of departure. The committee will be deliberate in ensuring the candidate pool, and ultimately the final candidate recommended to the Board, reflects the desired qualifications and ideal characteristics for Carleton’s next leader.
We want to be as open as possible about our progress while adhering to the highest standard of confidentiality throughout the process. Confidentiality is critical to the work we are doing to attract and retain candidates in the search. We will continue to share regular updates as the process moves forward.
If you have candidate recommendations, please continue to send them to Storbeck Search at CarletonPresident@storbecksearch.com
Thank you,
Cathy Paglia ’74 and Wally Weitz ’70
