The CHORI Summer Student Research Program is designed to provide an unsurpassed opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the world of basic and/or clinical research for three months during the summer. The program pairs students with one or two CHORI principal investigators who serve as mentors, guiding the students through the design and testing of their own hypotheses and methodology development. At the end of the summer, students present their research to their peers just as any professional researcher would do.
The objective of the CHORI Student Research Program is to provide basic and clinical research training opportunities for High School and Undergraduate students. The goal is to provide these research opportunities for individuals from dis-advantaged backgrounds, racial and ethnic minorities, and others who are underrepresented in this field (e.g., individuals with disabilities). The CHORI Program provides students with a research training experience to stimulate interest in pursuing a career in biomedical, clinical, basic and/or behavioral research in a friendly and nurturing environment.
