Celeste Simon’s Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center is seeking an entry-level research technician, who would work in the area of studying the tumor microenvironment. Given the general interest in expanding immunotherapy responses to a variety of cancers, her lab is currently evaluating primary human patient samples from individuals afflicted with pancreatic cancer, glioblastoma, kidney cancer, liver cancer, and soft tissue sarcoma based on transcriptomics, DNA copy number variation, epigenetics, and metabolomics to identify “crosstalk” between tumor cells and recruited T cells, macrophages, NK cells, and other immune effector cells. The overall goal is to disrupt pathways that promote immunosuppression in an effort to enhance the efficacy of these treatments. Prior research technicians in her group have gone on to medical school, graduate school, and combined MDPhD and VetPhD programs. Discover further information on the lab.
