Join our Quality Assurance Team with Neighborhood Health for the summer and develop initiatives to monitor and address areas for improvement as well as monitor the environment of care measures in our clinics. Apply via Handshake by March 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. CST
Past Carleton intern projects have focused on colon cancer screening, prenatal care, hand hygiene, use of women’s health services, and HIV/AIDS services and outreach. One internship position this summer will focus on patient depression remission.
We are a Federally Qualified Health Center that serves Northern Virginia. We have been providing comprehensive primary health care services – medical, dental, and behavioral – to adults and children for over 24 years. Our mission is to improve health and advance health equity in Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax by providing high-quality primary care regardless of ability to pay. Approximately 50% of our patients are uninsured and another 25% are on Medicaid. All are low-income. Despite having some of the wealthiest areas in the country, Northern Virginia is home to many low-income, largely immigrant communities.
This is a great opportunity for those interested in public health, being a health provider, and/or serving under-resourced communities. As part of the internship, we can set up informational interviews with providers and leadership in the areas that are of interest.
This opportunity is brought to us by a Carleton alum, Nara Hojvat-Gallin ’92, P’20, P’23 (nhojvat@neighborhoodhealthva.org). You are highly encouraged to reach out with any questions regarding the organization or the position prior to applying. Nara has a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.
