Association for Public Health Laboratories paid Internships and Fellowships Outside link
9 January 2025APHL offers a variety of opportunities to explore career pathways in public health laboratory science. We support professional development experiences for current students, early career scientists and established laboratorians. As a recipient of American Rescue Plan funding, we have expanded upon our current Public Health Laboratory Fellowship Program offerings and have added a Public Health Laboratory Internship Program.

OHSU PREP is a one-year, NIH-funded research intensive postbaccalaureate research program. The focus of OHSU PREP is to support the development of diverse postbac researchers in STEM and enhance their transition to a PhD program in biomedical research. In addition to a year-long sustained research experience, OHSU PREP scholars receive individualized competency-based professional and career skill development and opportunities that allow for cultural immersion through interactions with near-peer mentors (i.e., graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) and OHSU faculty. We believe in breaking down the systemic barriers that exist in academia and provide the necessary support to all of our OHSU PREP scholars to succeed in graduate school and beyond.

10 December 2024The NDSU CHANGE program provides mentored research experiences to recent college graduates. Participants in the CHANGE network join a cohort of trainees in a robust training environment that provides professional development and mentorship from a diverse network of biologists from Universities, federal government, industry, and nonprofits. Participants will join a cohort of recently graduated students and will be immersed in hands-on research during our year-long program. Students earn $32,500, with an additional $4,000 to cover health care expenses. 4 November 2024The University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center welcomes applications from Carleton College for the Iowa Cancer Research Experience (ICARE) post-bac using the link below, application deadline is February 1, 2025: https://icarepostbac.sites.uiowa.edu/form/2025-applicationICARE is a one to two year program starting in August 2025 for recent college graduates (fall 2024 or spring 2025) looking to gain more research experience and who have a career trajectory toward a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, DrPH) in a cancer-relevant field. Applicants accepted with minimum GPA of 2.5; preference given to applicants with a GPA of at least 3.0. Specifically, we have mentors looking for trainees who have completed a bachelor’s degree in biology or a health science field and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 29 October 2024Emily Johnston is an assistant professor and pediatric oncologist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and Carleton grad (’04). She does research on disparities in end-of-life care. Emily is hiring a clinical research coordinator to join the team. The coordinator would be a part of a multidisciplinary research team and would help with bereaved parent surveys and interviews, chart reviews, and coordinating study activities, among other duties.
