Education is the single largest function of government. How does the system actually work, and how can people make a difference in making it work better? In this internship, you’ll learn a lot about it. Demystifying and improving the system is the focus of Ed100.org, a California nonprofit project.
Thousands of volunteers play key roles in California’s public education system, not just as voters and parents, but as members of site councils, school boards, PTAs, bond oversight committees, and more. Ed100.org plainly California’s education system, in English and Spanish, so that these volunteers can have wisdom and confidence.
Depending on when you can begin your internship (we can be flexible), you will start with the excitement of helping to run the Ed100 Academy for Student Leaders a huge, free online conference. The key to the impact of this conference is followthrough. In a small team, you’ll help connect student leaders with education research and researchers in order to develop up-to-date learning materials about the education system. You’ll learn a lot — and your work will be used by school communities all over. If you have spreadsheet skills, they’ll be put to use. Ed100 is California-focused, but you can join this team from anywhere. Our team was “virtual” before distance learning was even a thing.
