Job Description: This hybrid role in an all Carleton alumni-staffed firm will encompass client service responsibilities along with some light research/paralegal work. The Individual will manage client service activities in coordination with portfolio advisors. This includes answering client inquiries, arranging meetings between clients and advisors, and handling client legal documents in a timely fashion. In addition to this paralegal work, the individual will be tasked with some investment research and paralegal projects. Other major components of the position include coordinating quarterly mailings, performing administrative duties (e.g. answering phones, filing), and assisting co-workers. Given the hybrid nature of the role, the candidate should be able to prioritize and tackle multiple tasks throughout the day and perform various ad hoc projects. The position is open, but the start date is flexible as is the work schedule.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (any legal experience a plus)
  • Excellent interpersonal language, organizational, and client service skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Quickbooks experience a plus)
  • Interest in investments, financial markets, and/or economics with a desire to increase knowledge
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and punctual

Client Service Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first contact for clients meeting in downtown MPLS office (IDS Center)
  • New client processing
  • Manage client legal documents
  • Set up meetings with clients and prospective clients
  • Preparing prospective client marketing & meeting materials
  • Record client and prospective client notes in the CRM database
  • Answer phones, file paperwork, manage office supplies
  • Coordinate quarterly mailings and other mailings

Research & Paralegal Projects:

  • As time permits, read company filings and industry reports to determine investment merits of securities
  • Draft legal documents, business letters, emails, and other correspondence

Additional Position Info:

  • Full-time (8:30am-5:00pm) or part-time (9:00am-3:00pm) position, Monday-Friday
  • Location: Minneapolis, MN
