The first Macalester-Carleton political science conference for students on April 4 attracted 45-80 students for each of the four sessions. Students from each school presented papers in several general fields, and faculty from both schools were discussants:
- Ideology, Mobilization and Democracy in Latin America
- Public Policy, Urban Governance and Community Power in the U.S.
- Democratic Institutions in Comparative Perspective
- Migration, Rights, and Participation: Perspectives on Contemporary Identity Politics
