Women in Physics and Astronomy

22 September 2014
Hi!
The Women in Physics and Astronomy (WiPA) group at the University of Minnesota would like to invite you to “Physics after Undergrad”, an event for undergraduate women in physics and related fields. The basic information is as follows.
Date: Monday Oct. 6th
Time:
6:15-9:15 pm (feel free to attend all or part as your schedule allows)
Location: Twin Cities East Bank
(specific room information TBA)
Who: All undergraduate women currently majoring or interested in majoring in physics or related fields
(astronomy, engineering, etc.)
RSVP: wipa@umn.edu (preferably by Sept. 26)
Please see the attached flyer for information, as well.
Event Description:
The event will open with an informal dinner with current U of M female graduate students, post-docs, professors and all area female undergraduates. This will be a good opportunity to meet and interact with other women in your field.
After dinner we will be hosting laboratory tours of various UMN physics research groups including condensed matter, biological physics, and cosmology labs. The lab tours will be followed by a panel discussion on physics research and physics graduate school. This will be an excellent opportunity to ask questions about physics research, graduate school applications, and grad school life in general.
While we will offer information primarily about the University of Minnesota graduate program, this event will have a broader focus for students interested in other schools and opportunities as well.
Other useful info:
• Parking will be available on campus for free (info will be sent to those who RSVP.)
• If you can offer a ride or need a ride please let us know in your RSVP, and we will do our best to coordinate rides as needed.
• Campus maps and specific rooms will also be sent out to those who RSVP.
• Dress is casual.
• Any questions and RSVPs can be directed to wipa@umn.edu.
Thanks!
