Visiting Professor Candidate Presentations

Students, Faculty, and Staff: 

The Physics and Astronomy Department will hold a series of three lectures presented by candidates for the Visiting Professor position in our department.  You are all invited to attend any or all of these presentations, where lunch will be served.  Sutdents then will have the opportunity to meet and chat with each during a reception (where cookies and coffee will be served) immediately following their talk.  

 

Tuesday, April 2, 2013:  Matthew Powell from West Virginia University will present “Sensing and Asymmetry in Nanopores”. 

Thursday, April 4, 2013:   Derek Thuecks from UW Madison will present “Laboratory Plasma Astrophysics: Bringing Space Physics Down to Earth”. 

Tuesday, April 9, 2013:  Julie Coats from St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital will present “Exploring Protein-DNA Interactions Using Single Molecule Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer”.

Each candidate will give their presentation in Olin 04 at 12 noon, immediately followed by a reception in the 2nd floor lounge with snacks served.
