Goodsell Observing Events
Total Eclipse of the Moon
April 4, 2015
Partial from 5:15 am – 6:48 am (Moonset)
Totality starts at 6:54 am
We will have the opportunity to see part of an eclipse of the Moon this month on Saturday, April 4, 2015. The partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 5:15 AM when the Moon begins to enter the Earth’s umbral shadow. Totality begin at 6:54 AM when the Moon is entirely within the umbral shadow. Unfortunately we will not be able to see totality since the Moon sets at 6:48 AM for us here in Northfield.
If it is clear, you can come view a partial lunar eclipse at Goodsell Observatory from 5:15 AM until the Moon gets too low to access with the telescopes. If you have a clear western horizon at home, you will have a better view of the eclipse from there! The Observatory will be open (only if clear) Saturday morning April 4 from 5:15-6:45 AM.
