Summer Undergraduate Research Position at UMD

9 February 2007

Rik Gran, a Carleton alum and former visiting professor, sent a notice to us about this great summer opportunity.

The neutrino physics group at the University of Minnesota Duluth has summer undergraduate research positions available on the MINOS, MINERvA, and NOvA experiments. The group is led by Dr. Rik Gran and Dr. Alec Habig. We are focused neutrino interactions, neutrino and cosmic ray astrophysics, and neutrino oscillation studies. We plan to support a group of approximately five students this summer, some from UMD and some from elsewhere. There are also two positions available as summer education and outreach interns at the Soudan Underground Laboratory. More information is available at http://neutrino.d.umn.edu/~rgran/SummerResearchPositions.pdf

Apart from the UMD students, they are only trying to recruit from Carleton and possibly one other school. The ideal candidate will have taken PHYS 228 and have some programming experience. Application deadline is April 1, 2007.
