Summer Internship at Soudan Underground Laboratory

9 April 2009

April 8, 2009
Dear Summer Interns,
We are looking for a few undergraduate students who are studying in the science and/or education field to work at the Soudan Underground Lab this summer. This position would involve working with the DNR giving science tours of the lab as well as continued development of our Outreach program. Our Outreach development will focus on the following types of projects this summer: develop new lesson plans and labs for grades 8-12, develop new posters and information for future projects like NOvA (a new Off-Axis Neutrino Detector), and create hands-on exhibits/activities, such as cloud chambers and cryogenics for tours/visitors.

These positions are open for the full summer. Schedules can be flexible but our goal is to cover all tours which happen at least twice a day and 7 days per week. We will also have 4 high school teachers and an Outreach Coordinator that you will work with you during the summer. Housing arrangements can be made if needed. The positions are for 8 weeks starting in mid June.

Visit www.soudan.umn.edu to learn more about the lab. There is a virtual tour under the “Outreach” section that will tell you more about MINOS and CDMS. For more information on the summer job positions, please contact:
