Summer Research Opportunity: Semiconductor Materials and Technologies

Semiconductor materials are used in cell phones and computers, lighting and displays, wearable biometric devices, space exploration technologies, electric vehicles, and power applications, to name a few. Nationally, jobs in semiconductor materials and technologies are growing rapidly, and the state of Michigan ranks in the top ten in for the size of its semiconductor workforce. These jobs require scientists and engineers from all backgrounds. This summer, Michigan State University is hosting a new NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates site: Early Engagement in Semiconductor Materials and Technologies.  This opportunity is open to undergraduate students majoring in any science or engineering field, who have completed their first or second year of study. This 10-week full-time research program includes housing and a stipend, and students will participate in professional development activities as well. While this opportunity is a full-time, in-person job, we are willing to work with individuals to accommodate some scheduling conflicts.

Our program website provides more information on the REU and potential projects. Applications will be accepted starting in December 2024 through the NSF ETAP site. If you’d like to receive an email when they open the application portal, please sign up
