All PHAS students are welcome to join department faculty and staff to talk about available groups, activities, and leadership positions in the department. In the past we’ve had student leaders either facilitate or help out with groups such as:
- Cosmos, the astronomy club
- the IDEA team, a group dedicated to inclusion, diversity, and equity work within the Physics field of study and the department in particular
- PUGs , Physicists from Underrepresented Genders (includes encouraging attendance at the national CuWiP conference)
- DiversiTea, gatherings to host speakers, view films, discuss articles, etc
- CARS, the robotics club
We’d like student input into how you’d all like to be involved in the department. Do you want something social? Something to help with professional development? Something that builds community or works towards equity? We can reprise these groups, adjust them to current needs, merge some, or come up with new and different ones. Come to an open discussion to share your thoughts! Meet in AND 036 at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 26th. Lunch will be provided.
