The Northwestern Applied Physics Graduate Program:
- is a hub for collaboration between the departments of Physics & Astronomy, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Earth & Planetary Sciences, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics and Materials Science & Engineering.
- offers a wide range of PhD research opportunities for graduate students with a strong undergraduate background in Physics:
Applied Quantum Physics, Interface Science, Soft Condensed Matter, Magnetism, Structure and Self-Organization of Biological Molecules, Mineral Physics and Photonics. - is designed to allow students to complete their PhD studies in as little as five years.
- provides students with a monthly stipend, paid health insurance and a full tuition scholarship.
Applications submitted in 2022 for Fall 2023 enrollment:
- deadlines to submit are as follows: priority review: Dec. 15, 2022, final deadline to apply: Dec.31, 2022
- GRE General and Physics tests are both optional (with GRE Physics recommended) due to complications resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
We particularly encourage applications of students from groups who are under-represented in physics and applied physics.
