Welcome, new Physics Majors!
The traditional first lab as an official Physics major will take place on Thursday, April 24th (week 3) in the 2nd Olin student lounge from 4:00 pm to approximately 5:00 pm.
We will be examining states of matter and the phenomenon called nucleation. We’ll initiate this process by measuring a quantity of a frozen colloid of butterfat globules within a water-based fluid containing dissolved carbohydrates, protein aggregates and minerals to which sucrose and extract of Vanilla planifolia have been added. The next step is to add a solution of carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, caramel color, and extract of sassafras albidum. Feel free to ingest the resulting mixture as well as engaging in a socialization exercise with fellow newly- declared majors, current majors, and department faculty and staff. Cheers!
