Green Corps Fellowship

22 January 2018

My name is Jessye Waxman and I’m a Field Organizer with Green Corps, the Field School for Environmental Organizing. Green Corps is a year-long paid fellowship that prepares recent college graduates for a career in environmental organizing by providing classroom training, hands-on experience running campaigns, and connections to jobs in the environmental & social change movement.

I’m looking to get the word out to graduating seniors about this opportunity before our spring application deadline of February 2nd. Can you send the job description below to your students?

I graduated from Duke in 2014 and started Green Corps this August. I was actively involved with environmental groups on campus, but even having been with this program for just 4 months I am aware of how much this program has already expanded my organizing abilities. I want to make sure that students hear about this unique opportunity – so I’m working to spread the word.

Please let me know if you’re able to send this to your students, and if so, I’d appreciate it if you would cc me so students will have my email address! They should feel free to send me an email with any questions they have.

Thank you so much for your help, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Best,

Jessye

The planet needs all the help it can get, especially now with so many environmental protections under attack. To win now and build a strong foundation for lasting progress, we need people who know how to organize: to run organizations and campaigns that will inspire the support and action we need to save our planet.

Our year-long program gives you intensive classroom training with people like Bill McKibben and Jane Kleeb. Then, you move to hands-on experience working with groups like Corporate Accountability International, The Wilderness Society and Mighty Earth to fight climate change, protect public lands, and reform our food system. When you graduate, we help you join our nearly 400 alumni in a career with one of the nation’s leading environmental and social change groups.

We’re accepting the top 15-20 candidates out of more than 1,000 applicants for our 2018-2019 program. If you’re passionate about the environment and ready to learn the craft of organizing, click here to apply!

Green Corps’ year-long program begins in August 2018 with Introductory Classroom Training in Denver, and continues with field placements in multiple locations across the U.S. Candidates must be willing to relocate. More information about Green Corps
