Please RSVP by noon next Fri Jan 13. Play on astronomer Henrietta Leavitt Want to join department students, staff, faculty, at a play Sunday January 22 in Anoka (just NW of Minneapolis) about Henrietta Leavitt, an unsung Harvard astronomer from a century ago, who, like all such women of her day, was called a “computer”? She made important discoveries about the cosmological distance ladder despite the sexism she and the other “computers” encountered. For further info, visit http://www.lyricarts.org/on-stage/silent-sky/ We would leave here at 12:30 PM Sunday the 22nd for the 2 PM matinee, and return after the play and pizza or ice cream late afternoon. Right now Marty and Joel are confirmed as going. Cost and signup deadline: Tickets are $25 for students, $30 for nonstudents, paid to Trenne by this coming Friday Jan 13 (If you need financial assistance, let her know.) Plus a few dollars for ice cream or pizza after the play. Please let Trenne know if you have a vehicle and how many passengers it can carry in addition to yourself, or if you are a college driver. For further information, talk to Joel, Marty, or Trenne
