Just thought I’d let you know how everything turned out this summer. Traveling was a very good idea! It made me wonder why I never studied abroad while I was at Carleton. Oh well, better late then never at all.
While I attended the language school in Salamanca Spain I got to visit much of southern Spain (Granada, Seville) and part of Portugal on the weekends in addition to improving my Spanish. Afterwards my older sister Katie visited me and we saw central/Northern Spain(Madrid/Barcelona), Italy(Venice, Florence, Pisa,, Rome, Naples, Pompeii), and Zürich Switzerland. Although I never heard back from any of the science internships I applied for this last winter things couldn’t have worked out better. I would highly recommend a little traveling for any student looking for something different for himself/herself to do after graduating although it isn’t cheap.
More recently, I moved into an apartment in Madison to start my masters program in the ECE department. I signed up to do research with Professor Shohet who works on a variety of EE applications from stem cell growth to semiconductor production. Hope all is well and good luck with your new students this fall. Classes start for me tomorrow, Yikes!
