The Physics of Vision

Seeing comes so natural for humans that the complexity of the human visual system is often overlooked. The perception of an image in one’s mind filled with vibrant colors and detailed contours is easy to appreciate but difficult to understand. In my talk, I will follow the journey of light through the eye and its interpretation in the brain. I will discuss how the eye exploits the wave-particle duality of light and the computations involved in the perception of color, as well as explore vision’s role in manifesting consciousness.
