Goodsell Observing Events:  Total Eclipse of the Moon

September 27, 2015

from 8:00 – 11:00 pm

Totality starts at 9:11 pm

We will have the opportunity to see a total eclipse of the Moon this month on Sunday, September 27, 2015.  The partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 8:07 pm when the Moon begins to enter the Earth’s umbra, the darkest part of Earth’s shadow.  Totality begins at 9:11pm when the Moon is entirely within the umbral shadow.  The Moon will begin leaving the umbra at 10:23 pm and exit completely by 11:27 pm.

If it is clear, you can come view the total lunar eclipse at Carleton’s Goodsell Observatory from 8:00 – 11:00pm.  If you have a clear eastern horizon at home, you will have a great view of the eclipse from your own backyard.  The Observatory will be open (only if clear) Sunday evening September 27 from 8:00-11:00 pm.
