Wednesday Screening of Real Genius

During this sci-fi comedy, science whiz Mitch Taylor (Gabe Jarret) arrives at Pacific Tech as a freshman, where he’s paired up with genius senior Chris Knight (Val Kilmer) to work on a laser project. When the boys learn that the government intends to use the laser as a weapon that they must get back at their advisor in a way that only creative geniuses can.  There will be pranks with their friends along the way. Come join us as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the ground-breaking and comedic movie by watching it on a big screen!  Real Genius is rated PG for mild sexual humor/references, mild profanity, and alcohol use.

7-9pm Wednesday October 1st, Olin 141. Movie-relevant snacks, games, and prizes will be provided. BYO beverage.

Thursday Panel

Real Genius shows what creative and smart people can do when they are given motivation, combined with time, money, and/or a community, to do their work. However is everything they show in the movie actually possible or even plausible? Bring your lunch and we’ll spend Common Time on Thursday, October 2nd in AND 149 with a Real Genius-Focused Mythbusters and a panel of faculty to answer your questions about Truth and Fiction in the movie Real Genius.
