Three REU Programs, One Summer Experience
Conduct impactful research at Boston University alongside students from all over the country!

MULTIPLE REU PROGRAMS (For All STEM Majors)
Integrated Nanomanufacturing REU participants work with nanoscale structures, devices, and systems for applications in biotechnology and healthcare, robotics, electronics, computing, AI, and energy.
Translational Biophotonics REU participants will help develop biophotonic technologies – optical technologies that sense disease conditions. Participants will gain an understanding of the impact of these technologies in the real world and will learn about the process of translation.
CELL-MET REU participants will conduct research focused on heart tissue engineering, combining breakthroughs in biology, nanotechnology, and manufacturing. 
All REU students work on authentic interdisciplinary research projects under the mentorship of BU faculty and graduate students. 

THE EXPERIENCE
Hands-on research in state-of-the-art laboratories at Boston University’s Charles River Campus.
Professional development sessions on graduate school, careers, communication skills, research ethics, and more.
Outings and social activities.
Research presentations at final poster session and certificate ceremony.   

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
All STEM majors from 2- and 4-year colleges are invited to apply. 
No prior research experience is required. 
First generation college students and students from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. 
Preference is given to highly motivated applicants who lack access to comparable opportunities at their home institutions.
