• NO Physics Table this week!

Instead of Physics Table, come to the 2nd Olin lounge to welcome our new majors!  There will be food–

  • Build an e-Portfolio!

The physics & astronomy department is looking for a couple of students who are interested in reflecting on their academic experiences, both curricular and co-curricular, and professional goals through the process of building an electronic portfolio of their work. These ePortfolios will be an opportunity to think about how you can articulate and demonstrate the skills that you have built during your time at Carleton for an external audience (e.g., potential employers). You will receive IT support for putting together your portfolio and be paid for the time it takes to assemble your ePortfolio. In return, we ask that you provide the department feedback on the process. This work will primarily occur during fall term, although we will ask you to begin assembling materials to include in the ePortfolio this spring. Please contact Melissa Eblen-Zayas or Marty Baylor to ask questions or to express your interest in participating (deadline for expressing interest is Monday, April 29 at noon).

  • Welcome New Physics Majors

Physics faculty, staff, and current majors are needed to create a critical mass large enough to welcome our newly-declared sophomore majors!  We’ll meet in the 2nd Olin lounge on Tuesday, April 23rd in place of Physics Table so that everyone can meet everyone else. (That’s at NOON!)

  • Lisseth Gavilan ’07 will be here Thursday and Friday of this week.  She’ll give a talk on Thursday over lunch, open to the public, as well as her P123 talk on Friday.

Please RSVP if you’d like to attend the Thursday lunchtime talk in Olin 101 at noon.

  • Each year we bring in 5 speakers with a physics background to talk about what they’ve gone on to do after college.
