• IDSC 209 Writing Science in winter term

    Interested in becoming a better science communicator, Wondering how writing practices differ from discipline to discipline?  Eager to describe your scientific discoveries with effectiveness and style?  Then the course Writing Science is for you. The class will explore how science is written for a variety of audiences – from scientific journals to the popular press. 

    IDSC 209 Writing Science is a sophomore priority course taught by Carol Rutz, Director of the Writing Program and Cindy Blaha.  The course is offered in alternate years.  This year it will be held winter term, 5th period in Olin 02.

  • Physics Table

    November 2 (Tuesday) noon-1pm, LDC Shearer Dining Room

    Plan to have lunch with physics students, faculty and staff at the LDC at noon.  We can meet on 3rd Olin for the short walk over, or you can meet us there.

  • Student Research Presentations

    November 3 (Wednesday) 3:15-4:15pm, Olin 02

    Claire Murray, Emily Petroff and Louisa Eberle will talk about their research experiences during summer 2010.  Everyone is invited and refreshments will be served.

  • Goodsell Observatory Open House

    November 5 (Friday) 7:00-9:00pm, Goodsell Observatory
