    Susan Singer the Laurence McKinley Gould Professor of the Natural Sciences and Sarah Titus Assistant Professor of Geology will talk about how they became interested in and pursued their respective fields. They will discuss how gender has shaped that experience. Lunch will be provided.

  • National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) Summer Student Research

    National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) Summer Student Research Assistants conduct research under the supervision of NRAO staff at one of three NRAO sites (Socorro, NM; Green Bank, WV; Charlottesville, VA) on a project in the supervisor’s area of expertise. The project may involve and aspect of astronomy, including original research, instrumentation, telescope design, or astronomical software development.   • Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Internship

    The Museum’s summer internship program affords college students the opportunity to work behind the scenes on projects that benefit both interns and the Museum. The program provides valuable hands on experience and introduces interns to the variety of career opportunities available in a museum environment. Students in all fields of study are encouraged to apply. Possible duties include conducting detailed research projects, creating scale drawings, teaching programs for families, or writing press releases. Applications are accepted from January 15 through February 15, online at www.nasm.si.edu.
