Interested in attending CuWiP?
The Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics is coming up! While the actual event isn’t until January, the application to register* deadline is fast approaching! We need to add one more layer because we may need to institute a lottery at the Carleton level. If you’re interested in attending, please fill out this form by the end of this week (Friday, week 4). We’ll then select as many attendees as possible and direct you to apply on the APS site. See Trenne in Olin 217 if you have questions.
*you must apply first, be accepted, and THEN register for the conference

Hamline University is pleased to announce that John Martinis, professor of physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, will be this year’s Malmstrom guest lecturer. On October 26, Martinis, a Fritz London Memorial Prize in Low Temperature Physics and John Stewart Bell Prize winner, will share the concepts behind quantum mechanics and how it can be used together with superconductors to build a quantum computer.
If you’re interested in trying to attend, let Trenne know and we can put a carpool together.
