Our family has been so happy with our son, Declan ’25’s decision to attend Carleton.  He chose Carleton because he was recruited as an athlete and was excited about the quality of the coaching and the balance of academics and athletics.  He was so impressed with the academic opportunities at Carleton. He is likely going to declare as a Biology major and is pursuing a pre-med curriculum. His main co-curricular activity is playing on the football team. He has loved the fellowship with teammates and the high quality of competition in the MIAC. His coaches have been fantastic mentors, and truly understand the balance of competitive varsity athletics and the academic rigor of Carleton. He has made amazing friends from all over the country with a rich diversity of life experiences and interests.

Academically, Declan has been blown away by the quality, empathy, dedication and availability of his professors. He is looking forward to studying abroad and research opportunities as an upperclassman. As his parents, we are so pleased that he has found such a wonderful place from the communities he is a part of to the outstanding academic opportunities.  We have also really enjoyed the warm, welcoming parent community that we experience whenever we are able to visit and the Carls in our hometown of Seattle.  It is truly a special place and we are so happy that he and our family are lucky enough to be a part of it!
