The Church of San Lorenzo fuori le Mura.

Located along the via Tiburtina, which heads east out of Rome, the church of San Lorenzo fuori le Mura (“outside the walls”) is one of the oldest churches in Rome as is indicated, in part, by its location outside the city limits. It was dedicated to the martyr St Lawrence (10 August 258)and was a site of active pilgrimage through the Middle Ages. It is located next to the Campo Verano, one of the principle cemeteries in Rome.
