Three students awarded Boyd-Niles Travel Fellowship!

13 October 2017

This year, three students have been selected to receive a Boyd-Niles Student Travel Fellowship to help them pursue additional site visits during their time abroad. The three students are: Levi Atkinson ’19, Emily Schwartz ’19, and August Lindgren-Ruby ’20.

The Boyd-Niles Student Travel Fellowship honors two fantastic professors of medieval and Renaissance history at Carleton, Catherine Boyd and Philip Niles. Students who win this award receive up to $500 to assist in their pursuits of additional site visits that encourage a deeper understanding of the world between ca. 300 and ca. 1650, with a particular emphasis on Europe, the Mediterranean basin, and the broader Middle East. Fellowship recipients will present on their research and experiences upon their return to campus.

To know more about this fellowship opportunity or to apply for during next year’s Summer and Fall programs, check out the MARS (Medieval and Renaissance Studies) department’s website here!
