Week 9 – John Carragher
Week 9 was an eventful and fun week! It was the perfect week to be our last full one here in Greece. We visited the National Archaeological Museum and had our trip to Santorini and Crete. This blog post will be my last of the entire OCS and I can firmly say that I have enjoyed every minute. I want to say thank you to Alex, MJ, Sam, Stella, and all of CYA for making this such a great experience. I highly recommend this OCS!
Week 8 – John Carragher
Week 8 was one of the quieter weeks that I have had in Athens, but I got some much needed rest after a very busy week 7. We visited Pnyx and the numismatic museum. I also went to a delicious Greek tasting menu at a Michelin star restaurant called Soil! It was a great and relaxing week.
Week 7 – John Carragher
Week 7 was another great week. I had a paper due for Myth and Reception, we visited the Acropolis Museum, and we had our trip to central Greece. We visited many places there and had a very full trip. It was a great trip overall and a fun, busy week!
Week 6 – John Carragher
Week 6 consisted of minimal amounts of class, but still plenty of learning and fun. I had field trips to Eleusis, the Acropolis, and the pottery exhibit at the National Archaeological Museum. To start my midterm break, I went down to Eleuthera Elenis with Alex’s family for a nice vacation. I then came back to Athens and participated in some Greek Easter festivities with Christo’s family. It was a really fun and enriching week!
Week 5 – John Carragher
Week 5 contrasted week 4 in that it was very busy, but just like previous weeks it was super fun. We visited the National Archaeological Museum and had a great trip to the Peloponnese. Overall, yet another great week here in Greece!
Week 4 – John Carragher
Week 4 has been the quietest week thus far and it provided some nice rest before our upcoming trip. I dived deeper into my Myth and Reception class, came up with a solid 3D model for my Digital Archaeology class, and am continuing to enjoy the Greek food and culture. We are almost halfway done with the trip and there is still so much to look forward to!
Week 3 – John Carragher
Week 3 was quieter than the first two weeks, but still a ton of fun. We learned about the Cyclades, visited the Museum of Cycladic art, and my sister visited me from Paris. Overall, week 3 was a ton of fun and I am really happy to be here!
Week 2 – John Carragher
The entire second week was a blast. Some highlights include our visit to the Athenian Agora as well as our trip to Volos. I learned so much on all of our site visits and am really grateful for the opportunity to be here in Greece and visit such cool places like Volos. Great OCS trip thus far and super excited for all that is to come!
Week 1 – John Carragher
We had a jam-packed first week visiting the Acropolis and Mazi Plain. All of it was a blast and I learned a lot at each site. It was a great first week and I am really looking forward to all that is to come!
