Daniel Lugo ’91 was featured by CT Insider, Connecticut’s top statewide news source, in a piece titled, “Trinity College’s new president wants to prove the value of higher education.”
New Trinity College President Daniel Lugo knows he is taking the helm at an interesting time.
This isn’t his first time leading a university, but current circumstances are certainly “unique,” he said on a brisk fall morning, sitting in his office as sunlight streams through the windows of Williams Memorial on Trinity’s campus.
The emergence of artificial intelligence, growing skepticism over the value of a college education, and a barrage of attacks against higher education at the federal level all create no shortage of challenges for Lugo, 56, who is now settling into his presidency at the small liberal arts college in Hartford.
“You want this job?” he asked, chuckling. But in all seriousness, he wouldn’t give it up.
Because lucky for Lugo, who was inaugurated as Trinity’s 23rd president on October 18, he always tries to see challenges as opportunities.
