Sustainability Office co-hosts Downstream Film Festival
Produced along with the Cannon River Watershed Partnership, the evening of 15 short documentary, narrative, experimental and animated films will be held at Imminent Brewing.
As part of its annual Climate Action Week, the Carleton Sustainability Office along with the Cannon River Watershed Partnership will host the Downstream Film Festival on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Imminent Brewing in downtown Northfield.
The event will feature 15 short films designed to inform, inspire, challenge, and awaken audiences to the environmental challenges of our time. The screenings include documentary, narrative, experimental, and animated films from both international and Minnesota filmmakers.
The Downstream Film Festival is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a social hour and opportunity to enjoy beer cheese soup and popcorn. Imminent Brewing will also sell their craft beverages.
Screenings run from 6 to 9 p.m., with breaks in between each blocks of films:
6 to 6:30 p.m.: Minnesota Showcase, featuring seven films by Miinesotans, including Northfield’s own Heriberto Rosas Jimenez.
7 to 7:30 p.m.: Water Around the World, including five films highlighting water around the world by filmmakers from Iran, Norway, Great Britain, and Canada.
8 to 8:30 p.m.: Plights and Predicaments, showcasing water problems and people problems and solutions from Alaska to Uganda.
The Downstream Film Festival is presented by the Carleton College Sustainability Office along with the Cannon River Watershed Partnership. Additional sponsors include Imminent Brewing, Just Food Coop, By All Means Graphics, Xcel Energy Foundation, Neuger Communications, and the State Bank of Faribault.
