Ruth Golden ’87 releases documentary film

Ruth Golden ’87 has released a documentary film titled, The Silent Goldens.
When I was a sophomore and my sister, Leah Golden ’86, was a junior, our mother tragically died by suicide. The day after the funeral, our father brought us back to Carleton advising us to simply “move forward.” My family did not talk about my mother again for 30 years, which I would learn years later took a toll on my mental health, motivating me to break the silence. The film features my discussions with family members about what happened and includes my mother’s brother, Joel Berlatsky ’63.
