Jerry Mohrig, the Herman and Gertrude Mosier Stark Professor in the Natural Sciences, will give the Honors Convocation lecture at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 30, at Skinner Memorial Chapel at Carleton College.

Mohrig has taught at Carleton since 1967. He earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1957, and a Ph.D. in chemistry in 1963 from the University of Colorado, Boulder. In his 36 years at Carleton, Mohrig’s teaching has centered on organic and bio-organic chemistry, but he has taught a wide variety of courses, including history and technology and science and society. He has used many different approaches in his quest for improved learning and teaching, from commissioning dances that demonstrate pathways of chemical reactions to developing more effective inquiry-based learning in his laboratory teaching.
