Carleton is top choice of Northeastern faculty kids.
4 July 2003Carleton was featured in a July 4 short subject in the Chronicle of Higher Education titled “Where the Faculty Brats Go to College.” Two Vanderbilt University economists studied the college choices of the children of professors at Northeastern institutions over a 10 year period. Those students were most likely to choose selective liberal arts institutions. Carleton was ranked number two, preceeded by Oberlin College and followed by Stanford University.

Elizabeth Pollock ’92 wins Student Academy Award
3 July 2003Elizabeth Pollock ’92 won a silver medal at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences annual Student Academy Awards. Pollock, one of 11 recipients, was honored for her documentary film “Indiana Aria” about four young hopeful opera singers attending the country’s top opera school. Pollock majored in English at Carleton and is a student at the University of California, Berkeley.

Jimmy Chin ’96 named to People Magazine’s “25 Hottest Bachelors”
30 June 2003Jimmy Chin ’96 was named one of People Magazine’s “25 Hottest Bachelors” in the June 30 issue. A colleague said, “Everything Jimmy says and does is 100 percent genuine.” Chin is a freelance photographer for publications such as National Geographic, Outside and Men’s Journal. He is also a North Face-sponsored mountain climber. Chin majored in Asian studies at Carleton.

24 June 2003Terry Rivers, director of recreational sports, recently led a roundtable discussion on the development of student club sport councils at the National Intramural Recreation Sports Symposium on Club Sports. The symposium was attended by people from 80 colleges and universities across the country.
