Chérif Keïta, William H. Laird Professor of French and the Liberal Arts, was invited to the screening of his film, uKukhumbula uNokutela/Remembering Nokutela, at Macalester College, on April 5, as part of Afrika Week 2017. Also, the film of his 2014 Cape Breton University live performance of “Sunjata” with two Malian griot musicians, Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté and Lassana Diabaté, was screened recently as part of the Global Musics Local Connections Film Festival, February 28 through March 31, in Sidney, Nova Scotia.
