Kao Kalia Yang ’03 wins record three Minnesota Book Awards
Yang majored in American studies at Carleton, with concentrations in cross-cultural studies and women’s and gender studies.
Kao Kalia Yang ’03 has won three Minnesota Book Awards for three different books, becoming the first person to ever win a trio of prizes at one Minnesota Book Awards ceremony. Yang won awards for Where Rivers Part in the memoir category, The Rock in My Throat in children’s literature, and The Diamond Explorer in middle grade literature.
