Julie Neiworth, Laurence McKinley Gould Professor of Natural Sciences and Psychology, published research in Nature’s Scientific Reports with five Carleton alumni and two current students: Maddie Thall ’22, Shannon Liu ’23, Ellie Leon-Moffly ’23, Moira Rankin ’25, Maddy LoRusso ’23, Suhani Thandi ’23, and John Garay Hernandez ’24. The paper, “A recognition test in monkeys to differentiate recollection from familiarity memory,” provides a methodology to separate familiarity memory from context-rich recollection in aging monkeys. Separation of these two types of memories is critical to separate aging from Alzheimer’s disease.
