Joel Weisberg, Herman and Gertrude Mosier Stark Professor of Physics and Astronomy and the Natural Sciences, emeritus, published an opinion piece in the July 3 edition of the Star Tribune with a University of Minnesota emeritus professor, Lawrence Rudnick. The piece is titled, “Trump administration move poses an existential threat to science.”
The op-ed describes the Trump administration’s proposal to place all decisions on federal grant funding under political appointees rather than experts who currently judge which proposals are most worthy. The proposed rule would apply to all federal grant funding, not limited to science.
