Jack Curtis ’26 featured in Post Bulletin piece

Curtis is majoring in physics at Carleton, where he also plays on the football and baseball teams.

Jack Curtis ’26 was featured by the Rochester Post Bulletin in a piece titled, “With a team behind him, this college quarterback plays his final season amid cancer treatment at Mayo Clinic.”

Jack Curtis has thought a lot about how a last-minute college football commitment landed him “an hour away from the best hospital in the world.”

The Charlotte, North Carolina, native wanted to pursue football and engineering. Curtis looked into Vanderbilt, Cornell and Carnegie Mellon, but opportunities at those universities didn’t pan out. Then, one week before the NCAA’s commitment deadline, he received a call from Carleton College head coach Tom Journell.

“It was a very spur-of-the-moment decision, and at the time, I didn’t know if I made the right decision,” Curtis said. “Since then, I don’t regret it. … I’ve made the best friends of my life here.”
