Gretchen Hofmeister, Professor of Chemistry and Associate Dean of the College, and Dani Kohen, Professor of Chemistry, have published an article in the Journal of Organic Chemistry with student co-authors Katie Blise ’15, Milan Cvitkovic ’13, Nolly Gibbs ’11, Sean Roberts ’12, and Reid Whitaker ’14, which describes the energetic basis of chiral discrimination by a desymmetrization catalyst. The catalyst facilitates a reaction used in the synthesis of the epilepsy and anti-anxiety medication, pregabalin (Lyrica).
