How long could you go without a computer? No Facebook. No YouTube. No e-mail. How will they get their work done? Will they cheat? Who will survive the longest? The students go through “digital detox” and learn to interact with themselves and with others in ways we have largely forgotten.
“Disconnected” was created as part of a Carleton class led by Melody Gilbert, an award-winning independent filmmaker, journalist, and educator from St. Paul, Minn. The film was featured at the San Francisco International Documentary Festival and the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival and was the recipient of a Special Jury Award at the 2008 Flyaway Film Festival.
