Chicharro Manzanares is this year’s language associate for Spanish at Carleton.
Cristina Chicharro Manzanares, language associate for Spanish, published an article titled “Africanist anthropology during Francoism: the Bernardino de Sahagún Institute, 1939-1951” in the Cultural & History Digital Journal 12:1 (June 2023). The piece studies the relationship between the national-Catholic values of the Francoist regime and the Spanish anthropological research of the time. The article is part of a larger project titled “Science and Visual Colonialism.”
